Fifteen years ago to the day, Clark McKay & Buckingham threw open its doors for the very first time with our founder client, Direct Line Life (and the promise of Eurotunnel, which even then didn’t keep its promises!) and if that’s not an excuse for a glass of the bubbly we don’t know what is! So, here at CMW towers that’s exactly what we’ll be doing later today.
Back in 1995, of course, the marketing landscape was a very different place, almost unrecognisable from the one we work in today. But the agency that Jonathan, Janet and Mark (and soon after, Steve) created, nurtured and grew into the leading agency it is today had a very simple thought at its core and one that we still very much follow today. That being, to recruit talented people, motivate them to do a professional job as a team, and have fun along the way. Sounds simple for sure, but in our opinion the best ideas are indeed always the simplest!
So, here’s to all the talented people that have made CMW into the agency it was, is and will be and all the friends we’ve made along the way.
Cheers.

Ermina is one of our planners. Her head is all abuzz with big thoughts as she thinks great things as dreams up marvellous strategies and all that. So it's no surprise she's lost her phone. She has thus gone out and bought a temporary stand in; the cheapest PAYG she could lay her hands on. It is a Nokia. And whilst it may be cheap on PAYG it nevertheless carries the 'Nokia tune' in full polyphonic splendor.
The 'Nokia tune' is in fact a classical guitar piece called Grand Vals, and here is the full plucking thing on YouTube.Enjoy!

Hip hip hurrah! Our Twisted work is a finalist in the FMCG category for this year's Revolution awards.
It's propper hard to get to be a finalist in the Revolution Awards, so we're propper chuffed.
And here's the Beatles!

Following a three way
pitch we’ve picked up the Healthy Start brief from the Department of
Health.
Aimed at giving pregnant
women and new mums and their children the best possible start, this CRM
programme arms them with advice and financial support to make looking
after their little one a little bit easier.
Our concepts are off to
research but you can read a little more about the win in
Campaign.

It's not often that our FD features on the pages of this blog but having made the finals of the Real Business/CBI FDs’ Excellence Awards for FD of the year we thought he was worthy of a mention.
So raise a glass and wish him luck on May 13th when the winner is announced. Always good to have a sharp man looking after the accounts when the economy has a wobble!
To see who he's up against take a look at the Real Business site.

Having been appointed to the NHS London account early this year we've just launched the first of two integrated campaigns.
This campaign highlights the dangers of measles and encourages parents to get the MMR jab for their kids to stop the disease spreading further. During the pitch we uncovered the key stat that 1 in 10 kids who suffer from measles will end up in hospital and this is the key message from the campaign. Already it's proving a big success with numerous primary care trusts supporting the campaign that spans outdoor, press, dm, door drops and information for doctors to use in their surgeries.

We had a superb evening at the DMAs on Tuesday!
We walked away with Gold in the Automotive category (Lotus), silvers in Creative Solutions (Lotus) and FMCG (Cadbury) and a bronze in Field Marketing (Lotus). It's the best haul we have had in the DMAs for a while and we were especially pleased with our standing in the Creative Solutions category. This has always been the 'one to win' because its about pure creativity, has 40+ strong entrants and is judged by the great and the good of the creative world.
A brilliant evening all round.

Matt Klippel and Steve Taylor are joining us as Technical Director and Head of Digital Planning, respectively. It was in the news over at Brand Republic here. We're thrilled, they're thrilled. It's going to be swell! As it says on the sleave notes for Sgt Pepper's "A splendid time is guaranteed for all."

We won Best Use Of Multiple Channels at this year's IMAAs for our Creme Egg campaign. You can check it out on the IMAA site here. It was great work to be involved in and we had an absolute ball doing it. Props to our friends on the account at Starcom and Publicis and to our fantastic clients at Cadbury.

It's been a great year for us here at CMW. We've picked up awards from DMA, NMA, IDM, CiB and MCCA, we've won some fantastic new accounts including the integrated Lotus account, the entire M&S CRM business, Department of Health’s harmful drinking campaign, a place on the 2012 digital roster and major projects from Santander, Visa and Direct Travel Insurance. We've made some big hires too. Creative Directors Jamie Bell and Iain Hunter join from Wunderman, Head of Digital Planning Steve Taylor arrived from Saatchis and Claire Wright and Matt Klippel joined from Proximity to take up the roles of Client Services Director and Technical Director respectively.
And now CMW has been shortlisted for Marketing magazines's DM agency of the year and Campaign's Direct Agency of the Year.
Keep your fingers crossed for us.
